Outreach Sales Representative, Renewable Energy

3Degrees Inc

This is a Full-time position in Portland, OR posted June 11, 2021.


You are a confident, professional, and driven self-starter with a passion for sales and mission-driven work. You are well-spoken with an outgoing personality and comfortable developing customer rapport. The ideal candidate is someone who has prior sales or call center experience, can effectively work independently and enjoys being part of a team. You have a strong work ethic with a history of meeting and exceeding sales goals and preferred candidates will have demonstrated professional success in customer service and direct sales.


3Degrees partners with some of the largest utility providers across the US to expand participation in their renewable energy programs. Sales Representatives are the front line within our Outreach organization and are focused on creating awareness and educating residential customers on green power options. Sales representatives are responsible for efficiently driving enrollments, while maintaining the highest level of customer experience and quality standards. When successfully meeting or exceeding enrollment targets, sales representative are earning on average $55,000 OTE (on target earnings) annually.

This is a full-time remote position preferably located in Oregon, Washington, Michigan, North Carolina or Georgia. A remote office location in other US regions will be considered for highly qualified candidates.


Typical Schedules are currently Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with future potential for weekend shifts. Sales Representatives are expected to work 8 shifts per work week.


  • Increase awareness, education, and participation in designated programs by enrolling customers through remote calling
  • Professionally represent the utility brand to their customers
  • Accurately present programs to customers by following approved scripted language while keeping up-to-date on new program information
  • Achieve and maintain qualitative and quantitative targets, including but not limited to enrollment goals and quality standards
  • Comply with departmental protocols for safeguarding customer information and ensuring strict adherence to telemarketing/state requirements
  • Deliver requested enrollment information and details about each shift to the Sales Supervisor
  • Participate in weekly training meetings and regular meetings with Training Lead
  • Engage in learning opportunities regarding utility renewable and energy efficiency programs, renewable energy, and professional development


  • Internet ? Minimum Specifications: · Internet speed ? download speed 15 MB; upload speed 5 MB · DSL, Cable, or Fiber required ? WiFi, WiMax, Satellite, dial-up, and/or Hotspots are NOT compatible
  • Home Router with wired Ethernet link to PC/Laptop
  • 3Degrees requires Internet not be used for non-work related purpose during working hours; including media streaming, ripping, gaming, or other web usages by other members of the household that may negatively impact the performance of your network
  • Reliable phone service to conduct test calls to ensure, among other things, audio quality (e.g., prior to each shift, during shifts as needed)
  • A remote calling environment with no background noises and ability to protect customer privacy
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a sales, outreach, or community organizing role strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Google Apps and Five9 strongly preferred
  • Well-spoken and outgoing personality
  • Comfortable initiating customer interactions
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Superb communication skills and influencing ability


In this role, you will work for the Outreach team to achieve program goals focused on Safety, Service, and Sales. Success factors specific to this position include:

  • Service:
  • Within the first week (30-39 hours of training), successfully master program content with an ability to conduct independent calls with customers.
  • Provide a high level of customer service in every interaction, resulting in zero customer complaints.
  • Meet performance evaluations by consistently demonstrating a high level of program knowledge by effectively answering questions and addressing customer concerns while closely adhering to program script guidelines.
  • Sales:
  • Consistently meet or exceed enrollment rate as defined by program success metrics.
