Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. Our business lines are Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking, and Treasury Management & Payment Solutions.

As the front-line control arm of Commercial Banking, Commercial Banking Control Management develops and supports a strong control environment that leads to early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk, through joint accountability with business and process leaders. The control function is responsible for: risk identification and assessment, control and issue management, control design and evaluation, reporting and governance, and control programs.”This role will provide leadership by driving innovation and continuous process improvement initiatives that support WFCC Businesses and WFCC Business Control Management horizontally. 

Key job responsibilities:

  • Provides dynamic and proactive strategic leadership for business-specific programs, processes, and controls;  consults on end to end issue management for Wells Fargo Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance (REEF).
  • Partners with business stakeholders to drive improvement efforts to correct or prevent unfavorable trends and assesses impacts.
  • Oversees an entire program or series of initiatives related to a business and/or an Enterprise strategy with significant, recognizable impact across the Enterprise and externally.
  • Drives a risk culture; influence the self-identification of issues and control gaps.
  • Contributes and provides direction towards the development of procedures, guidelines and governance programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates emerging risk, operational trends, and external risk events for potential impact to control environment.
  • Serves as the primary interface and representative with cor-porate, business heads, Corporate Risk,  Legal, Audit, regula-tors, industry partners, elected officials, and trade groups regarding management of business-specific risk programs.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Ability to prepare presentations, management reporting, and statistical analysis
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders. 
  • The ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business and partners aligned to all levels of the Control organization.
